DO MANY GUYS GET WAXED?
Yes, men of all ages, body types and sexual orientation are enjoying the benefits of having smooth, hair-free
DOES INTIMATE WAXING HURT?
Everyones pain threshold is different, however, the first time will hurt a bit but then each subsequent wax will become easier as there will be less hair to remove and it will be finer...the more you wax the more comfortable it is.
The procedure will be carried out expertly and professionally...so often clients tell me it was not as bad as they imagined. My technique is quick. Any pain is for a few seconds and is minimised by using state of the art premium quality peelable Hard Wax created by Perron Rigot - this wax shrink wraps each hair and does not adhere to the skin making the whole experience far more comfortable.
You can, if you so wish, help yourself a little by trimming the area before the appointment, however please remember I need at least 1/2cm for the wax to grip. If the hair is really long then it will hurt a little more.
After the wax is removed, gentle pressure will be applied to the area with the hand, this confuses the nerve endings and helps to relieve any discomfort. If you are in too much pain then your therapist's technique needs modification!
Some people have been known to take a paracetamol or similar before waxing which they say really helps. This is your personal choice and not a recommendation.
WHEN SHOULD I NOT BE WAXED?
If you (1) Have a contagious skin condition (2) Are taking Roaccutane, Retin A, Renova, Differin or other types of skin thinning acne medications in the last 6 months (3) Sunburnt, chafed, broken or infected skin (4) You have used steroid creams on the area within the last 3/4 months.
Do not have your first waxing right before an event e.g. going on holiday, as the treated area may well look and feel sore afterwards. Wax a few days before to ensure you look fabulous for the occasion.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE TREATMENT?
Please arrive squeaky clean and freshly showered and, if possible, gently exfoliate the area for a few days beforehand. This helps to remove any dead skin cells and lifts the hair for better results.
Do not apply body lotions, creams, oils or anything at all to the area being waxed. Do not shave the area for at least 3 weeks prior to your appointment, as the hair needs to be at least 1/2 cm long in order for successful removal.
Wear clean and loose comfortable clothing which will not rub on the waxed area e.g. T-shirt, loose trousers. Natural fibres like cotton is best.
WILL IT FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE AFTERWARDS?
Slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common temporary reactions, particularly if this is your first wax. These should subside within 24 hours, and many people find that regular waxing results in less irritation. I have specific aftercare products for you to purchase if you so wish.
WHAT IF I GET AROUSED?
Do not worry about it!.....on occasion it happens and usually passes quickly. It will be completely ignored and the task carried on professionally and expertly. Some clients experience temporary physical arousal in response to the manipulation of their genitals, this is nothing to worry about and usually subsides fairly rapidly.
However, please note, inappropriate behaviour or language will result in the treatment immediately ending and you will be asked to leave, even if the job is not finished! Possibly leaving you looking a little odd.
I will wax you and that is it, no extras, happy endings or whatever you want to refer to it as I have a zero tolerance policy in this regard so that is what you desire, please seek elsewhere and bon voyage!
DO I HAVE TO BE NAKED?
The areas being waxed obviously need to be uncovered. Intimate waxing will require you to be naked from the waist down to obtain the best possible result. I am only interested in great results, not your shape, size etc.
SHOULD I TRIM DOWN THE HAIR BEFORE A VISIT - HOW LONG DOES IT NEED TO BE?
Your waxing may be more comfortable if the hair is trimmed down (not shaved) but remember there MUST be at least 1/2 cm of hair for the waxing to be effective, so do not trim too much.
IS THE SALON HYGIENIC?
Very. Gloves are worn for the wax service. Spatulas are never double dipped into the wax pot. Tweezers, scissors and clippers are germ free and sterilized between clients.
HOW CAN I AVOID INGROWING HAIRS?
Exfoliate your skin thoroughly 2/3 times per week to remove the top layer of dead skin and moisturise every day. If the skin is soft new growth can break through more easily reducing the risk of ingrowing hairs and infection. Kent Waxing Co. can sell you reasonably priced exfoliating wash cloths to use in shower/bath.
ARE ALL MY WAXING DETAILS KEPT CONFIDENTIAL?
Absolutely. On arrival there will be a short consultation regarding your health and suitability. No information at all about you will be passed to a third party...ever.
WILL I SUFFER ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO BEING WAXED?
Slight reddening may appear to the skin but this is completely normal and will normally fade in 24/48hrs. Some people experience in grown hairs (see advice above), red bumps and on occasion minor blood spots. This is more likely to occur when areas with thick hair are waxed, especially the first few times when follicles are strongest.
HOW LONG DOES THE HAIR NEED TO BE?
1/2 cm, to achieve the very best results you should have at least 3 to 4 weeks growth. Any less than that will not achieve perfection as hairs will be left behind. It will possibly be a bit of a waste of money.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
Everybody is different, however, during the first 3 weeks regrowth will be minimal and after that it will increase more quickly. Unlike shaving or hair removal creams, waxing removes hair by the root...this avoids the discomfort of itchy stubble and your hair will grow back slower, softer and sparser. To maintain your smooth appearance, we recommend waxing regularly every 4 to 5 weeks.
HOW LONG WILL THE TREATMENT TAKE?
It depends on how many areas we are treating and which areas they are. You should allow a bit longer for your first treatment.
